The Global Automotive Lightweight Materials (GALM) Series returns to Detroit (Michigan, U.S.) February 22-23, for the latest (4th) edition of the Lightweight Manufacturing specific conference--The Lightweight Vehicle Manufacturing Summit 2017.
The GALM Series is an industry-leading event with a spotlight on innovations in lightweight manufacturing. The series was developed in collaboration with an industry advisory board represented by Toyota, Ford & General Motors. The 2017 edition of the show will focus on the newest advances in joining, forming and surface treatment technologies and on their applications for mixed material structures including lightweight materials like magnesium, composites, aluminum, and steel.
Honda, Volvo, FCA, GM, Ford, Deer & Company and other companies will be featured in an expert speaker panel to discuss significant changes in vehicle design/manufacture, driven by EPA and NHTSA standards that are set to lower CO2 emissions by about1.1 billion metric tons and save $170 billion in fuel costs. Developments in adhesives, additive manufacturing, machine learning, multi-material joining methods, corrosion mitigation techniques and other processes will be discussed, as they pertain to the emissions and fuel savings targets.
When: Wednesday-Thursday, February 22-23, 2017
Where: Detroit Marriott at the Renaissance Center
