The refined and redesigned 2017 Yamaha YZF-R6 weighs in at net 190 kg,
thanks to a magnesium sub-frame that shaves 1.2 kg from the bike, compared to a comparable steel assembly. The pure 600cc machine rides with a DOHC, liquid-cooled inline four to produce 116.7 hp at 14,500 rpm, and an estimated 42 MPG. Torque is estimated at 61.7 Nm/10,500 rpm.
Magnesium engine head and case covers add to the overall weight loss
(along with an aluminum frame and swingarm, 17-liter aluminum fuel tank, and titanium exhaust end-can), pushing the bikeís solid performance and nimble handling.
Other features include ride-by-wire Yamaha Chip Controlled Throttle
(YCC-T) system, new adjustable traction control system, and a comprehensive new LCD combo analog/digital instrumentation package that displays a programmable shift light, fuel economy, dual trip meters with miles-on-reserve function, and indicators for the new electronic rider aids, including TCS and D-Mode.
